Responsibilities
- Build and refine controls that protect Wise customer accounts from account takeovers.
- Develop backend and frontend crime-prevention and detection systems, with approximately 80% backend and 20% frontend work.
- Take end-to-end ownership of projects that improve financial crime prevention infrastructure and systems.
- Design and operate CI/CD pipelines and distributed, concurrent systems.
- Design resilient database schemas and optimize queries.
- Make data-driven decisions with a strong customer and product focus.
- Collaborate with Product, Data Science, and Investigations teams.
Requirements
- Professional experience with Java or other JVM-based languages and the Spring framework.
- Experience building and designing scalable web applications that handle large amounts of traffic.
- Experience with React-based frontend applications and JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Proven experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines and distributed, concurrent systems.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases, query optimization, and resilient schema design.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, problem-solving ability, and commitment to Test Driven Development and best coding practices.
- Strong communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts across teams.
- Preferred: familiarity with the machine learning lifecycle, including data pipelines, feature engineering, and deploying ML systems into production.
Benefits
- Starting salary of £87,500–£111,000 plus RSUs.
