Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of Android and Android TV applications.
- Define coding standards, best practices, frameworks, reusable components, and scalable multi-module designs.
- Collaborate with product, design, and backend engineering teams to translate business needs into high-performance solutions.
- Drive technical design reviews, performance optimization, scalability improvements, and architectural governance.
- Architect integrations with APIs, content delivery systems, and playback pipelines including HLS and DRM.
- Guide teams on MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture, and Jetpack Compose adoption.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to DAZN’s engineering culture and innovation.
Requirements
- 8+ years of Android application development experience, including 4+ years in architecture or lead engineering roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with Kotlin and Java.
- Proven experience architecting and building Android and Android TV applications.
- Expertise in video streaming, playback, and DRM integration, including ExoPlayer, HLS, and DASH.
- Solid understanding of software design patterns including MVC, MVVM, and MVI, plus SOA and RESTful architecture.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, modularization, and scalable multi-module application design.
- Strong understanding of Android performance tuning, memory management, and concurrency.
- Experience working in Agile environments with distributed teams.
- Preferred experience with Google Cloud Platform, Firebase, broadcast systems, digital video workflows, metadata pipelines, Jetpack libraries, Compose for TV, AndroidX TV UI components, and high-availability applications.
