Base Salary
$160k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Evolve build and continuous integration workflows for large monorepos.
- Develop Bazel rules, toolchains, and integrations for reproducible and adoptable shared build infrastructure.
- Improve Buildkite pipeline throughput and reliability by reducing queue times and build bottlenecks.
- Optimize dependency analysis, incremental builds, caching, parallel execution, and CI compute usage.
- Build developer tools for diagnosing build failures and reproducing CI behavior locally.
- Explore AI-assisted CI diagnosis, pull request triage, automated recovery, and developer guidance.
- Instrument and operate build and CI infrastructure using metrics and developer feedback to address recurring issues.
- Lead platform improvements from design through rollout, partner on migrations, and mentor teammates through technical decisions and code reviews.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, including developer infrastructure, build systems, or CI platforms.
- Production software development experience with a language such as Go, Java, Kotlin, or Python, along with strong debugging and software design skills.
- Experience with build or CI systems at scale, including dependencies, incremental builds, caching, and distributed execution.
- Experience with Bazel, Buildkite, or large monorepos is especially relevant; comparable tools and environments are acceptable.
- Experience leading technical projects across teams, making design tradeoffs, and carrying changes through rollout and operational ownership.
- Ability to approach internal platforms as products and improve developer workflows and adoption.
- Ability to investigate performance and reliability issues across multiple components and select maintainable solutions.
- Mentorship, clear communication, and automation skills that improve team effectiveness.
