Responsibilities

  • Design trajectory planning and decision-making algorithms for safe, smooth, and dynamically feasible motion in uncertain environments.
  • Develop and validate vehicle-control and estimation algorithms for longitudinal and lateral dynamics.
  • Implement mission-critical real-time C++ software for embedded automotive compute.
  • Define interfaces between perception, planning, control, and platform software.
  • Support vehicle driving-function demonstrations from bring-up through customer-facing runs.
  • Build Python and C++ simulation and analysis tools to evaluate planner and controller performance.
  • Define driving-quality and safety metrics, analyze field data, and implement planning and control safety mitigations.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of software engineering experience with production-quality modern C++ and Python.
  • Hands-on experience with motion planning, decision-making, or vehicle controls in autonomous vehicles, ADAS, or robotic systems.
  • Knowledge of optimization-based planning, search methods, optimal control, model predictive control, or probabilistic decision-making.
  • Strong foundations in linear algebra, geometry, statistics and probability, and vehicle dynamics.
  • Experience taking software features from design through real-world deployment.
  • Ability to work from the Lindau am Bodensee office at least Tuesday through Thursday.
  • Preferred experience deploying planning or control software on real vehicles, working with real-time and embedded systems or RTOS, and applying imitation learning, reinforcement learning, or learned cost functions to planning.

Benefits

  • Competitive annual salary of EUR 82,000-115,000 depending on experience.
  • Hybrid work model with three office days per week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and remote work for the remainder.
  • Modern workspace near Lake Constance in the Alpine foothills.
