Responsibilities

  • Analyze and resolve Fortnite stability, performance, CPU, GPU, rendering, shader pipeline, and device compatibility issues.
  • Improve Unreal Engine rendering systems and Fortnite-specific applications across varied hardware and graphics APIs.
  • Optimize low-level systems such as memory allocators, file systems, and input systems interfacing with platform APIs.
  • Monitor release stability and performance data to identify and implement improvements.
  • Collaborate with GPU vendors, external partners, and Epic engineering teams to resolve technical challenges and improve underlying technologies.

Requirements

  • Strong C++ knowledge and multithreaded programming skills, with the ability to code and architect core engine systems.
  • Experience with real-time rendering in the games or computer graphics industry.
  • Knowledge of at least one graphics API, with DirectX 12 preferred, and a general understanding of modern graphics API architecture.
  • Experience profiling and optimizing a large codebase.
  • Ability to reason about and debug large, interacting systems from macro-level to micro-level.
  • Experience with OS-level systems, Windows APIs, and common frameworks is a plus.
