Responsibilities

  • Analyze and resolve Fortnite stability, performance, rendering, compatibility, shader pipeline, and device-specific CPU and GPU issues across PC hardware configurations.
  • Improve Unreal Engine rendering systems and Fortnite-specific applications for stability, performance, and player experience.
  • Optimize low-level systems interfacing with platform APIs, including memory allocators, file systems, and input systems.
  • Monitor release performance and stability data and use it to improve Fortnite and Unreal Engine systems.
  • Collaborate with GPU vendors, technical partners, and Epic engineering teams to resolve technical issues and improve underlying technologies.
  • Profile, debug, and optimize large, interacting codebases and core engine systems.

Requirements

  • Strong C++ knowledge and multithreaded programming experience, including the ability to code and architect core engine systems.
  • Real-time rendering experience in the games or computer graphics industry.
  • Knowledge of at least one graphics API, with DirectX 12 preferred, and a general understanding of modern graphics API architecture.
  • Experience profiling and optimizing a large codebase.
  • Demonstrated ability to reason about and debug large interacting systems from macro-level to micro-level.
  • Experience with OS-level systems, Windows APIs, and common frameworks is a plus.
