Responsibilities
- Identify and prioritize ML use cases and models for CPU-centric execution, including LLM, vision, speech, and recommender workloads.
- Characterize compute intensity, memory bandwidth, cache behavior, parallelism, and dataflow patterns.
- Generate execution traces with QEMU or equivalent simulators and develop tooling for instruction-level behavior and performance-counter analysis.
- Analyze CPU pipeline, memory hierarchy, and instruction-utilization bottlenecks and optimize hotspots through kernel, algorithmic, data-layout, and memory improvements.
- Collaborate with CPU architecture and design teams to propose enhancements to compute units, vector/SIMD extensions, and memory subsystems.
- Develop optimized ML kernels and libraries for QMX, including GEMM, convolution, attention, and activation functions.
- Integrate kernels with ML frameworks and inference stacks and apply SIMD/vectorization, cache-aware execution, and parallel execution strategies.
- Optimize ML benchmarks, establish performance baselines, track improvements across hardware generations, and perform competitive analysis.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field and 8+ years of software engineering or related experience; alternatively, a master's degree and 7+ years or a PhD and 6+ years.
- 4+ years of experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
- Strong background in computer architecture, systems programming, and machine learning fundamentals.
- Mandatory proficiency in C/C++.
- Experience with performance profiling, benchmarking, and optimization.
- Preferred experience with QEMU or equivalent simulators and ML kernel development.
- Knowledge of CPU pipelines, caching, and SIMD/vector extensions such as NEON, SVE, and QMX.
- Familiarity with ML frameworks and inference stacks, plus low-level optimization using intrinsics, assembly, and memory/cache tuning.
