Software Engineer (Infrastructure)
Thought MachineResponsibilities
- Support the engineering team in building reliable and scalable applications.
- Design and build tools that improve service scalability and availability, automating processes wherever possible.
- Develop observability and orchestration tooling for monitoring and managing customer deployments.
- Contribute to disaster recovery, backup, and redundancy tooling and strategy.
- Build tools and processes that improve codebase quality.
- Develop tools and integrations with third-party infrastructure components used in customer environments.
- Automate deployment processes and facilitate infrastructure changes in data and streaming platforms.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar technical field.
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience.
- Experience developing production-ready infrastructure management tooling with Python or Golang.
- Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, or Grafana.
- Familiarity with databases such as Postgres or DuckDB.
- Familiarity with event streaming platforms such as Kafka.
- Familiarity with container orchestration technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with CI/CD systems such as Jenkins, CircleCI, GitLab, or GitHub Actions.
- Desirable: experience supporting production systems in high-consistency transactional environments.
