Responsibilities

  • Design and build scalable backend systems for Spotify’s internal commerce platform.
  • Develop and evolve services and data pipelines supporting invoicing, receipts, and payment flows.
  • Work on high-scale distributed systems handling millions of transactions daily.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and data partners to deliver seamless user experiences.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions shaping Spotify’s commerce ecosystem.
  • Improve system performance, reliability, and observability across services.
  • Participate in technical deep dives, code reviews, and engineering knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience building backend services using Python, Java, or similar languages.
  • Experience designing and scaling systems on cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform or AWS.
  • Experience with scalable database technologies such as Postgres or similar.
  • High AI fluency and thoughtful use of modern tools, including LLMs, to improve workflows and problem-solving.
  • Experience modernizing or evolving legacy systems while maintaining stability.
  • Exposure to commerce, payments, or financial systems.
  • Clear communication skills, sound judgment, collaboration, and comfort leading technical discussions.
