Responsibilities
- Design and prioritize research activities by combining ML research capability with software engineering expertise.
- Build, evaluate, and performance-tune ML prototypes at single- and multi-GPU scale, potentially bringing them to product readiness.
- Analyze research results and help communicate findings through clear technical write-ups.
- Collaborate with researchers and product teams to transfer research into shipping products.
- Develop expertise in research subareas, understand relevant literature and techniques, and contribute to academic publications.
- Maintain high engineering and software security standards, including security for research prototypes and library supply chains.
- Follow applicable ethics, privacy, and data-handling policies.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Computer Science or a related area, or equivalent training and experience in research.
- Experience with modern ML model architectures in PyTorch.
- Proficiency in collaborative software development with Python.
- Skills in data analysis and model evaluation.
- Experience with performance tuning in ML systems.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills for explaining technical results and assumptions to diverse audiences.
- Willingness and flexibility to work in a highly agile and dynamic environment.
- Preferred: PhD in Computer Science or a related area, or equivalent training and experience in research.
- Preferred: ability to work in large codebases.
- Preferred: proficiency in lower-level engineering languages such as C, C++, or Rust, or equivalent systems languages.
- Preferred: experience with cluster-based distributed data processing techniques.
Benefits
- The typical base pay range is £74,700.00–£122,600.00 per year.
- Additional benefits and compensation may be available depending on role eligibility.
