Responsibilities
- Build highly scalable distributed solutions across the stack for Meraki Dashboard and Cisco Catalyst features.
- Own initiatives from conception through production release and define project milestones and progress metrics.
- Make architectural and system design decisions, communicate trade-offs, and mentor other engineers.
- Improve system reliability, performance, and operational excellence through testing, telemetry, and alerting.
- Resolve software defects, networking issues, and customer-reported problems.
- Partner with engineering managers, product managers, and cross-functional teams on technical and business priorities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field with 12+ years of related experience, or a master’s degree with 8+ years, or a PhD with 5+ years.
- At least 3 years of professional coding experience with web backend technologies such as Ruby on Rails or similar, plus Go, Ruby, or Python.
- Experience making architectural and system design choices, communicating trade-offs, and mentoring team members.
- Practical experience with emulation and simulation of networking devices.
- Experience leading projects by defining well-scoped milestones from loosely defined business problems and identifying progress metrics.
- Preferred experience with networking devices, Cisco CML, systems software design, large-scale distributed networking solutions, and cross-functional or geographically distributed engineering teams.
