Responsibilities
- Build highly scalable distributed solutions across the stack for Meraki Dashboard and Cisco Catalyst features.
- Ensure system reliability, performance, and operational excellence through testing, telemetry, and alerting.
- Own projects from conception through production release and influence cross-team technical decisions.
- Partner with engineering managers, product managers, and collaborators to define team direction and priorities.
- Resolve software defects, networking issues, and customer-reported problems while improving scalability and reliability.
- Define project stepping stones and progress metrics for loosely defined business problems.
- Mentor team members and communicate architectural and system-design tradeoffs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field with 12+ years of related experience, or a master’s degree with 8+ years, or a PhD with 5+ years.
- At least 3 years of professional coding experience with web backend technologies such as Ruby on Rails or similar, plus Go, Ruby, or Python.
- Experience rolling services out safely to customers using practices such as feature flags and A/B tests.
- Demonstrated architectural and system-design decision-making ability, including communicating tradeoffs and mentoring engineers.
- Practical experience with emulation and simulation of networking devices.
- Experience providing project leadership and defining milestones and progress metrics.
- Preferred experience with networking devices, Cisco CML, systems software design, large-scale distributed networking solutions, and cross-functional or geographically distributed engineering teams.
