Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and operate backend services for SAP Sustainability Data Exchange.
- Build RESTful APIs, microservices, event-driven pipelines, data-processing services, and AI-enabled application capabilities.
- Write maintainable Java and Spring Boot code across controller, service, and persistence layers.
- Debug production issues, participate in incident analysis, and implement stability, reliability, and performance improvements.
- Support CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, observability, automated testing, code reviews, and technical knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and DevOps teams to refine requirements and improve system design.
Requirements
- 2–4 years of experience in backend development.
- Solid programming skills in Java and Spring Boot with knowledge of object-oriented programming and design principles.
- Experience with AI/LLM workflows, prompt design, and integrating AI services into applications.
- Practical knowledge of RESTful API design, microservices architecture, testing, validation, debugging, and production troubleshooting.
- Experience building and operating cloud-based microservices and familiarity with observability, performance tuning, and system monitoring.
- Experience with relational or NoSQL databases; MongoDB experience is a plus, with SAP HANA migration experience relevant to the team.
- Experience using Git and working in an agile Scrum environment.
- Beneficial experience includes SAP BTP, Cloud Foundry, GCP, AWS, Azure, SAP CAP, CDS models, generated DAOs, ORM or code-generation frameworks, Gradle multi-module builds, Docker, Kubernetes, RabbitMQ, and multi-tenancy or supply-chain and sustainability domains.
