Responsibilities
- Design and implement the connector runtime for built-in connectors, hosted MCP servers, and CLI-backed tools.
- Build semantic schemas, capability metadata, relationship models, and organization-specific knowledge mechanisms.
- Develop tool-discovery and tool-selection surfaces optimized for agent accuracy and context efficiency.
- Implement structured results, retry and partial-failure handling, idempotency, pagination, rate-limit handling, and observability.
- Define OAuth, authorization, BYOK, and per-organization credential-isolation patterns with Security and Backend Platform.
- Build connector onboarding schemas, fixtures, evaluation suites, and quality metrics.
- Own connector reliability and operability through SLAs, monitoring, observability, and incident response.
- Partner with product and AI teams on connector interfaces and integration patterns.
Requirements
- Typically 4+ years of experience designing and building production backend systems.
- Strong system design skills and experience building efficient, reliable, scalable architectures, ideally involving API integrations, gateways, or platform systems with heterogeneous downstreams.
- Strong proficiency in at least one backend language such as Python, Go, or Rust, with effectiveness in multi-language environments.
- Hands-on experience with modern infrastructure such as AWS and Kubernetes.
- Depth in at least one area including OAuth and authorization protocols, API/connector or MCP-server development, schema and semantic modeling, or tooling and evaluation for LLM-based agents.
- Comfort working on security-sensitive authentication, authorization, and credential-isolation problems.
- Collaborative approach to solving difficult and ambiguous problems with experienced engineers.
