Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end architecture and delivery of backend systems connecting lending products with shared platforms.
  • Drive complex, cross-team initiatives from problem definition through implementation and rollout.
  • Own technical problems with real business impact and provide clarity in ambiguous situations.
  • Define and evolve APIs and integration patterns for faster product team execution.
  • Design systems for scale, resiliency, and operational excellence.
  • Identify opportunities to create reusable platform capabilities from one-off product needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate ambiguous problems into practical solutions.
  • Influence collaboration between product and platform teams to improve technical decision-making.
  • Participate in on-call and incident response, leading improvements in systems and practices.
  • Mentor engineers through design reviews and technical feedback.
  • Contribute to roadmap and strategy discussions for platform investments.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in building and operating production software at scale.
  • Strong backend engineering fundamentals, preferably with Ruby on Rails or similar frameworks.
  • Experience with transactional databases, asynchronous processing, and large-scale application architecture.
  • Strong system design judgment with the ability to make tradeoffs across various factors.
  • A track record of leading complex projects across multiple teams or systems.
  • Experience in fintech, lending, banking, or other high-integrity domains.
  • High-ownership mindset and comfort operating in ambiguity.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to influence cross-functional teams.
  • A product mindset with instincts for connecting technical decisions to member experience.
  • Experience mentoring engineers to improve design quality and operational excellence.
  • Curiosity and a desire to understand and improve systems over time.
