Responsibilities
- Contribute to medium- and large-sized projects with cross-functional impact.
- Develop loosely coupled, scalable, testable, modular, reusable, clean, and maintainable software.
- Work with cloud systems, pipelines, and resources.
- Query data storage and persistence containers using SQL, NoSQL, and caching technologies.
- Use Kafka for real-time data streaming and processing.
- Use Kubernetes to automate application deployment, scaling, and management.
- Test, troubleshoot, and optimize application components for speed, security, and scalability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and design new features.
- Evaluate and adopt new technologies and approaches to advance Carvana’s software engineering capabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a similar field from an accredited undergraduate institution.
- At least 2 years of software development experience in either C#/.NET Core with GraphQL, Web API, and Azure services, or JavaScript/TypeScript with React Hooks, Next.js, and Nx.
- Experience working on applications that share common resources.
- Strong fundamentals in writing effective unit tests.
- Experience debugging and troubleshooting web applications, API integrations, and infrastructure.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Willingness to learn, improve, and remain flexible.
- Preferred experience includes AWS, Azure, GCP, or RedHat cloud platforms; CosmosDB or other NoSQL databases; Kafka or RabbitMQ; GraphQL services; authentication and authorization; Nx monorepos; React Query and state management tools; Storybook; OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and PKCE; native device integration; CI/CD pipelines; and Linux command-line development tools.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Employment is contingent on passing a complete background check.
