Responsibilities
- Design and implement software solutions using established design patterns and architectural principles.
- Document designs and implementation steps and review them with business analysts, development, and QA teams.
- Collaborate with product, project management, and QA teams on requirements analysis, solution design, estimates, and project status.
- Translate business requirements into technical implementations for process automation and new applications.
- Transition complex business logic from existing systems to new technologies and systems.
- Support production systems with system operations, database administration, and systems engineering teams.
- Define system recovery procedures, identify root causes, and resolve program failures.
- Plan and execute unit tests and work with performance testing teams to resolve load-test performance issues.
- Develop software in an agile, continuous integration, and SDLC-tool environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or software/computer engineering, or equivalent, is required.
- 5+ years of experience developing low-latency, high-performance transactional software systems and components.
- Deep knowledge of Java 11+ including concurrency and memory management, object-oriented design, design patterns, distributed messaging, JMS, and Spring frameworks.
- Experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, Oracle PL/SQL, and database technologies.
- Experience applying continuous improvement tools and agile development methods to complex systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to multitask and work independently.
- Demonstrable production support and root-cause analysis skills.
- Preferred: advanced AI skills using providers such as Anthropic/Claude and tools such as GitHub Copilot.
- Preferred: experience developing microservices on container-based Kubernetes platforms such as OpenShift.
- Preferred: experience with JavaScript-based web UI frameworks such as React.
- Preferred: exposure to financial services technology, particularly futures and options.
- Preferred: working knowledge of shell scripts and the Linux command line.
