Responsibilities
- Own technical delivery of Azure Databricks engagements from solution design through build, testing, deployment, and go-live.
- Lead and mentor data engineering teams, including design guidance, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
- Build and review Lakehouse, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Databricks SQL, Workflows, and Azure data ecosystem integrations.
- Translate solution architecture into detailed technical designs and implementation plans with architects and project or program managers.
- Drive coding, CI/CD, testing, performance optimization, troubleshooting, and production support standards.
- Track delivery progress, risks, and technical dependencies and provide estimation and technical input for project phases.
- Develop reusable delivery accelerators, patterns, and best practices for the Data & AI practice.
Requirements
- 10–12 years of experience in data engineering or technical delivery roles.
- Strong recent hands-on experience delivering Azure Databricks-based solutions, including Lakehouse, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Databricks SQL, Workflows, and cluster or compute optimization.
- Experience with data lake and data warehouse architecture, medallion architecture, dimensional modeling, and data migration to Azure Databricks.
- Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, ADLS Gen2, Azure SQL, SQL, data modeling, performance tuning, Spark, and PySpark.
- Working knowledge of data governance and security practices, including role-based access and data lineage.
- Proven experience leading delivery teams through technical mentoring, code and design reviews, and hands-on problem-solving.
- Experience collaborating with project and program managers and client technical teams during delivery.
- Preferred: at least 3 years of hands-on Azure Databricks experience.
- Preferred: Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional or Databricks Certified Associate Developer for Apache Spark certification.
- Preferred: exposure to CI/CD and DevOps practices, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, MLflow, Databricks Model Serving, and GenAI or agentic data use cases.
- Preferred: experience across multiple industry domains and in global delivery or systems-integrator environments with distributed teams.
