Responsibilities
- Define and implement company-wide machine learning frameworks, best practices, roadmaps, and operating processes.
- Design and build ML and AI prototypes to validate use cases and solve complex business problems.
- Develop and deploy production-grade machine learning models and data pipelines.
- Build orchestration, integration, CI/CD, testing, monitoring, alerting, and model lifecycle capabilities for ML solutions.
- Monitor, maintain, retrain, version, and protect production ML systems and their data.
- Lead or participate in the development, testing, implementation, maintenance, and support of complex software solutions.
- Provide production support, warranty support, knowledge transfer, and automated monitoring capabilities.
- Collaborate with product, data, business, and production support teams in an Agile environment.
- Mentor less experienced teammates, help establish processes and standards, and potentially oversee a small team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and six to ten years of experience, or equivalent education and software engineering training or experience.
- At least five years of experience across data analytics, infrastructure, engineering, and data science roles.
- At least two years of experience in applied ML engineering or data science roles.
- Strong proficiency in Python and machine learning frameworks.
- Experience with Databricks and Azure for data engineering and ML workflows.
- Familiarity with MLflow, Lakehouse Monitoring, Azure DevOps, MLOps tools, and CI/CD practices.
- Solid understanding of data science, data engineering, and model lifecycle management principles.
- Demonstrated experience deploying ML models into production and maintaining ML systems at scale.
- Ability to solve complex technical and operational problems, lead complex projects, and apply best practices.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently, collaboratively, and with business stakeholders.
- Ability to mentor less experienced teammates and convey complex or sensitive information.
- Knowledge of insurance industry data and business processes is preferred.
