Responsibilities
- Prepare technical design specifications and written knowledge-transfer materials.
- Review functional requirements, analysis documents, and design documents.
- Implement, test, maintain, support, and improve software based on technical designs.
- Lead architecture, design, and implementation of robust, scalable web services and distributed systems.
- Identify system issues and patterns, develop standard operating procedures, and improve application quality.
- Maintain existing codebases, conduct peer reviews, and participate in architecture and code reviews.
- Coordinate technical designs with colleagues and support customer support with technical problems.
- Investigate and adopt relevant technologies, including AI-native practices, automation, and modern engineering toolchains.
- Lead or participate in cloud, DevOps, or AI modernization initiatives.
- Provide technical leadership, mentor less experienced developers, and make independent decisions across varying levels of abstraction.
- Drive results across cross-functional teams while balancing short- and long-term product goals.
Requirements
- At least 15 years of experience in Java Full Stack Development and Java Enterprise Edition.
- At least 10 years of experience developing systems or software for large business environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong object-oriented design and service-oriented architecture principles, preferably implemented with Java.
- Strong experience leading the architecture, design, and implementation of robust and highly scalable web services.
- Experience with AWS and/or Azure SaaS infrastructure, DevOps technologies, and extensive debugging.
- At least 5 years of experience developing and debugging distributed systems and working with cloud-based big data systems.
- Understanding of unit testing, test-driven development, functional testing, and performance testing.
- Experience building front ends with React is preferred.
- Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL database systems and data architecture.
- Experience integrating with event buses such as Pulsar is preferred.
- Experience integrating with cloud-based big data solutions such as Snowflake is preferred.
- Experience with software security-enhancing tools and best practices and at least one shell scripting language.
- Understanding of big data, machine learning, LLMs, automation, and engineering toolchains.
- Proven experience leading cloud, DevOps, or AI modernization initiatives and translating AI innovation into business and productivity impact.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, presentation, facilitation, decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently in a complex technical environment and mentor engineering teams.
