Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship complex backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and other critical platform components.
- Build and integrate AI/ML-powered product features and operationalize them in production.
- Drive technical design and make hands-on decisions about scalability, performance, security, and cost.
- Write, review, and improve production code while modeling engineering best practices.
- Build resilient services that integrate with internal products and external healthcare systems.
- Implement healthcare and data-protection requirements, including HIPAA and GDPR.
- Debug, profile, harden, and operate production systems, including incident response.
- Mentor engineers through design reviews, pairing, and code reviews.
- Partner with product, clinical, and engineering stakeholders to deliver technically sound solutions.
- Evaluate and recommend technologies, frameworks, and tooling for the team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience building and shipping production systems.
- Deep hands-on coding expertise in one or more modern languages such as Python, Java, or Go.
- Strong software design experience across distributed systems, backend services, APIs, and data-intensive architectures.
- Experience building and integrating AI/ML into products, including connecting models to systems, managing data flows, and operating them in production.
- Hands-on experience with production operations, infrastructure-as-code, monitoring, performance tuning, and incident response.
- Familiarity with healthcare data standards such as FHIR and HL7 and regulatory requirements such as HIPAA and GDPR, or the ability to ramp quickly in a regulated domain.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to align engineers and stakeholders around technical approaches.
- Strong experience with cloud platforms and containerization/orchestration technologies.
