Responsibilities
- Design, develop, modify, refactor, and integrate software systems while considering service architecture.
- Analyze user needs and determine whether to build new software or modify existing systems.
- Translate business requirements and specifications into usable, scalable software.
- Lead design and code reviews.
- Contribute to team vision, engineering strategy, and roadmap discussions.
- Work with developers, QA, Product Managers, and technical leads on features, performance projects, and complex issues.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional experience as a backend software engineer for non-trivial web applications.
- At least 3 years of Ruby on Rails experience.
- Experience building systems from the ground up and addressing design and scaling issues.
- Strong experience with data model design for relational databases.
- Strong SQL experience for investigating complex issues or creating complex reports is a plus.
- Hotwire Turbo, Stimulus, Tailwind, frontend, or DevOps infrastructure experience is a plus.
- Prior FinTech experience is a plus.
- Ability to make technically sound decisions aligned with business goals, break down large initiatives, communicate complex problems, and collaborate across teams.
