Responsibilities
- Define test scenarios, measurements, pass/fail criteria, and regression signals for flight software.
- Use and improve the SITL/HITL simulation environment to make validation more representative and reliable.
- Develop Python tools to parse and analyze test outputs, detect regressions, and generate actionable reports.
- Integrate simulation and hardware tests into continuous-integration pipelines for automated validation.
- Create test scenarios, metrics, and coverage for newly introduced autonomous platforms.
- Capture, replay, and analyze flight and test telemetry to reproduce and understand issues.
Requirements
- Background in software engineering, embedded systems, mechatronics, aerospace, or a closely related field.
- Strong Python skills for test tooling and automation.
- System-level architectural thinking, a statistical approach to noisy data, and physical intuition for flight behavior.
- Experience in some combination of test framework design, CI/CD and DevOps tooling, SITL/HITL simulation, or telemetry capture and analysis.
- Validation mindset with rigor, attention to edge cases, and skepticism about test results.
- Clear communication and ownership when working with flight-software, simulation/tooling, and hardware teams.
- C++ experience, drone or robotics background, and statistical analysis of noisy test data are beneficial.
