Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, containerized Java Spring Boot microservices.
- Build high-performance APIs and event-driven integrations with firm-wide control systems.
- Develop APIs supporting React or Angular micro-frontends in collaboration with frontend engineers.
- Own assigned features from technical design and specification through implementation, testing, and deployment.
- Use AI-powered development tools such as GitHub Copilot and advanced code analyzers to improve productivity and code quality.
- Participate in code reviews, share development best practices, and maintain standards for software design, containerization, and data caching.
- Analyze applications for vulnerabilities and security issues and perform testing and debugging.
- Advise or coach lower-level analysts and collaborate with technology teams and stakeholders.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on software development experience building robust backend systems.
- Strong proficiency in Java 17 or above and deep hands-on experience with Spring Boot.
- Experience with Apache Kafka, event streaming, messaging platforms, and Redis or comparable in-memory data stores.
- Practical knowledge of software design patterns, SQL, microservice architecture, and RESTful API development.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and cloud-native application development.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to take ownership of features or small-scale projects within an agile development team.
- Clear written and verbal communication and strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Preferred qualifications include Python, React, Angular, AI-assisted development tools, and financial services or other large-scale global-environment experience.
