Responsibilities
- Implement, manage, upgrade, patch, tune, and scale the enterprise Elastic observability platform across its full lifecycle.
- Onboard more than 20,000 devices along with infrastructure, cloud services, applications, and platforms into observability solutions.
- Build and maintain dashboards, visualizations, alerts, reports, runbooks, onboarding guides, and operational standards.
- Configure collection and processing of logs, metrics, traces, uptime data, APM data, and synthetic monitoring telemetry.
- Design and maintain ingestion, parsing, enrichment, and retention processes for globally distributed data sources.
- Investigate incidents, troubleshoot problems, perform root cause analysis, and contribute to postmortems and reliability improvements.
- Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, application, SRE, and operations teams to improve monitoring coverage, service visibility, uptime, and operational readiness.
- Automate ingestion, upgrades, deployments, and operational tasks using scripting, infrastructure as code, and repeatable deployment practices.
- Guide infrastructure subject-matter experts on onboarding data sources and consuming observability outputs.
- Mentor and cross-train internal teams while continuously improving observability practices and standards.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of SRE or DevOps experience in enterprise-scale or mission-critical environments.
- At least 5 years of cloud, application, or platform operations and administration experience across AWS, Azure, hybrid, or multi-cloud environments.
- At least 5 years of automation, CI/CD, and scripting experience using Python, Bash, PowerShell, Ruby, or equivalent technologies.
- At least 5 years of experience with containers and cloud-native platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes, Prometheus, or Grafana.
- At least 3 years of experience administering Elastic Observability platforms through deployment, maintenance, upgrades, patching, and capacity scaling.
- Strong experience with Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, Beats, Elastic APM, Fleet, or Elastic Agent, plus practical knowledge of logs, metrics, traces, and synthetic monitoring.
- Experience administering observability platforms such as Grafana, Graylog, Splunk, Sumo Logic, Tanzu, or open-source equivalents.
- Experience with scalable ingestion pipelines, distributed infrastructure, AWS and Azure services, databases, virtual machines, and hybrid deployments.
- Proficiency with Python, Bash, PowerShell, Ruby, REST APIs, Postman, YAML configuration, GitHub, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of Terraform, Ansible, GitHub Actions, CloudFormation, OpenTelemetry, service meshes, Kubernetes, Docker, and Prometheus.
- Preferred qualifications include AWS or Azure Associate-level certification, Elastic Certified Engineer certification, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred qualifications include AWS Professional-level certification or equivalent functional knowledge, and experience with runbooks, playbooks, consumption guides, data sovereignty, regulatory considerations, and security monitoring.
- Familiarity with Kinesis, Event Hub, Lambda, Functions, serverless technologies, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, SSL, and load balancing.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, collaboration, documentation, mentoring, and customer-focused operational excellence skills.
- Working knowledge of Agile and/or ITIL processes.
