Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize high-performance backend applications with Java, Spring Boot, and Kafka.
- Take technical responsibility for complex solutions and help shape the architecture and design of distributed systems.
- Design and implement scalable solutions for very large data and transaction volumes.
- Analyze performance problems and deliver sustainable technical improvements.
- Develop, explain, and defend technical decisions with architects, developers, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain high code quality through automated testing and established development practices.
- Provide technical support and knowledge transfer to other developers.
- Work at 80–100% capacity in Bern, with onsite attendance one to two times per week.
Requirements
- At least five years of professional software-development experience.
- Deep, current hands-on experience with Kafka and Java in production projects.
- Very strong knowledge of Java and Spring Boot.
- Demonstrated experience with high-performance systems and processing large data volumes.
- Strong knowledge of software architecture, distributed systems, and performance optimization.
- Experience with SQL, REST APIs, Docker, Kubernetes, and GitLab.
- Knowledge of unit and integration testing; Splunk and Citrus experience is preferred.
- Completed university or university of applied sciences degree in computer science, or a comparable qualification.
- Ability to work independently, systematically, and in a solution-oriented manner.
- Ability to explain complex technical matters clearly, justify decisions, and convince diverse stakeholders.
- Very good German and good English skills.
