Federal Platform Engineer
Horizon3 AIResponsibilities
- Implement scalable, secure, and resilient cloud-native application platforms across deployed AWS regions and federal environments.
- Design and deploy improvements to development and deployment processes so engineers can deploy confidently.
- Build internal platform tooling to collect telemetry about platform effectiveness.
- Improve documentation practices within the engineering organization using Confluence and documentation as code.
- Create reusable Terraform modules and Crossplane compositions for engineering teams.
- Automate infrastructure-as-code, platform operations, and CI/CD processes.
- Evaluate technologies and automation patterns for application hosting and infrastructure provisioning, then define recommended work.
- Coordinate concurrent initiatives, project management, and work allocation.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or related roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or STEM, or equivalent experience; a master’s degree in Computer Science is a plus.
- Go is required; Python experience is a plus.
- Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Crossplane, Ansible, GitLab CI/CD, and cloud-native infrastructure.
- Strong experience with solution design and flow, technical documentation, communication, analytical problem solving, prioritization, and time management.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Must possess or be able to gain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
- Experience with FedRAMP, CC SRG, NIST 800-53, or the Authority to Operate process is preferred.
- Experience using Claude Code or other AI-enabled development tooling is preferred.
