Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Platform)

- Design, implement, and scale core infrastructure for reliability, performance, and security.
- Build and improve developer tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and engineering workflows.
- Implement security-by-design controls and operationalize compliance requirements.
- Shape platform architecture, technical direction, and engineering standards.
- Mentor engineers and drive cross-functional alignment on platform strategy.
- Partner with product and engineering leaders to balance speed, cost, resilience, and reliability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent technical experience.
- 8+ years of hands-on infrastructure and platform engineering experience.
- Strong Python 3 and AWS expertise, with experience scaling cloud-native systems.
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures such as Kafka and relational or NoSQL databases including Postgres, DynamoDB, MySQL, or SQL Server.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code, observability, monitoring, incident response, containerization, and orchestration.
- Experience improving developer experience, tooling, automation, and monorepo workflows using tools such as Bazel, Buck, or Pants.
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001 and experience leading security initiatives.
- Experience mentoring engineers and shaping technical direction across teams.
- Transportation systems, scientific or analytics applications, dbt, and DuckDB experience are valuable bonuses.
