Responsibilities
- Define the architecture and evolution of distributed tracing, metrics, structured logging, and telemetry standards across hundreds of services.
- Lead the technical strategy for tracing and understanding AI agents and ML-powered systems in production.
- Architect high-cardinality, high-throughput telemetry pipelines and storage systems while balancing sampling, retention, fidelity, cost, and query latency.
- Ship production code and lead initiatives from prototype through production at scale.
- Design instrumentation APIs, libraries, and tooling that drive OpenTelemetry adoption and improve developer experience.
- Define SLO/SLI, alerting, incident-response, automated remediation, and operational intelligence patterns.
- Partner with infrastructure, platform, and product engineering teams; influence technical strategy and mentor senior engineers and technical leads.
Requirements
- Proven experience building observability or telemetry tooling and developer platforms for large internal engineering organizations.
- Deep expertise in telemetry pipeline design, high-cardinality data, dynamic sampling, query latency, retention economics, and data fidelity.
- Strong technical fluency with OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing engines, metric backends, and large-scale log ingestion infrastructure.
- Experience designing real-time telemetry triggers that support automated remediation, dynamic runbooks, or AI-assisted root-cause diagnosis across microservices environments.
- Demonstrated ability to lead architecture, deliver production systems hands-on, influence across teams, and mentor senior technical contributors.

- Annual cash compensation range is $313,800–$502,080 USD, including base salary, eligible commission, and annual bonus targets; some roles may also receive equity or overtime eligibility.
