Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable data pipelines and backend services with strong deployment, resilience, and observability practices.
- Integrate charging station data from global charge point operators and data aggregators.
- Reconcile and unify charging station data into authoritative datasets.
- Build data validation and quality systems for charging station attributes and live availability.
- Develop internal tooling and dashboards to monitor data health and surface corrections.
- Run experiments evaluating EV charging data quality, accuracy, and coverage.
- Support downstream Mapbox teams consuming EV charging data.
- Review code and design documents, shepherd feature releases, collaborate on platform direction, and participate in an on-call rotation.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of production backend service development experience with Rust.
- Experience building highly available backend services and data pipelines in AWS container-based environments using Docker, ECS, Fargate, or Kubernetes.
- Hands-on experience with service monitoring, incident triage, and continuous product improvement.
- Knowledge of data engineering, pipeline design, data quality validation, large-scale data processing, and distributed systems.
- Experience with system architecture, architectural concepts, data analysis, and performance profiling.
- Ability to implement automated tests and participate effectively in collaborative engineering work.
- Strong English communication skills and an interest in learning and knowledge sharing.
- Familiarity with Argo and Datadog is a plus.
- Willingness to discuss thoughtful use of AI in engineering workflows during the interview process.
