Responsibilities

  • Build backend services for conversational and autonomous commerce agents, including intent understanding, multi-turn execution, tool orchestration, and human confirmation checkpoints.
  • Develop the commerce tool layer for catalog, inventory, pricing, cart, checkout, order status, and returns with strict contracts, authorization scoping, and blast-radius limits.
  • Implement live-catalog grounding, retrieval, attribute and variant normalization, price and stock freshness, and product availability safeguards.
  • Design transactional safety mechanisms including idempotency, confirmation, rollback, spend and scope limits, permissions, and audit trails.
  • Build evaluation and observability systems for commerce outcomes, tracing, regression gates, and production quality metrics.
  • Optimize retrieval and tool-call latency, model routing, prompt caching, and cost per resolved task.
  • Partner with commerce product, search and recommendation, merchant platform, and trust and safety teams to launch agents in production.

Requirements

  • More than 5 years of experience building and operating production backend services.
  • Strong Python skills; Go or Java experience is a plus.
  • Experience developing production ML-based systems in search, recommendations, advertising ranking, personalization, or fraud and risk.
  • Experience with high-traffic transactional or e-commerce backends such as catalog, inventory, cart and checkout, payments, or order management.
  • Track record of improving quality using offline evaluation and online A/B testing.
  • Strong distributed-systems fundamentals, including asynchronous and event-driven architecture, queues, concurrency, idempotency, and distributed tracing.
  • Hands-on experience shipping LLM-backed systems to production and direct experience with agentic patterns such as tool or function calling, orchestration frameworks, and multi-turn state management.
  • Experience with cloud and containerized deployment, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.
