Responsibilities
- Design, build, integrate, and ship the software stack, platform, frameworks, and user experiences behind Face ID.
- Develop architecture and APIs, implement software, integrate across the operating-system stack, and optimize performance, memory, latency, power, reliability, and security.
- Bring computer vision and machine learning capabilities from research prototypes into production software.
- Partner with hardware and silicon teams on sensor bring-up and collaborate with firmware, framework, accessibility, and QA teams.
- Perform profiling, instrumentation, automated testing, benchmarking, debugging, and continuous integration.
- Build high-quality, accessible software for Apple hardware and silicon operating at large scale.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience.
- Track record of designing and shipping robust software in a collaborative environment.
- Strong fundamentals in API and framework design, data structures, concurrency, memory management, and debugging complex systems.
- Experience writing production software for resource-constrained or embedded platforms with emphasis on performance, memory, latency, and power.
- Experience integrating computer vision or machine learning components into shipping products.
- Experience with profiling, instrumentation, automated testing, and continuous integration.
- Preferred: MS or PhD in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
- Preferred: expert C/C++ skills, working knowledge of Python, and Objective-C or Swift experience.
- Preferred: familiarity with camera, depth, or other sensor pipelines, including 3D or time-of-flight imaging.
- Preferred: experience working close to hardware and collaborating with silicon, firmware, and hardware teams.
- Preferred: interest in security and privacy-preserving system design and a strong collaborative approach to code review and design discussions.
