Responsibilities
- Define and own the multi-year network architecture vision for the Network Edge product line.
- Lead architecture and design for high-throughput VNF enablement and dual-Data Center connectivity.
- Establish design patterns, reference architectures, and standards for VNFs, overlay networking, and carrier-grade performance.
- Identify architectural gaps and provide technical recommendations that unblock engineering teams.
- Profile, tune, and qualify throughput-sensitive VNF workloads using DPDK, SR-IOV, CPU pinning, and related techniques.
- Serve as the technical liaison among product engineering, Network Architecture, Network Operations, external vendors, Product, Engineering, and Strategy leadership.
- Influence infrastructure strategy and define the 2027+ product roadmap.
- Advise strategic customers, partners, and industry forums on Network Edge capabilities and complex network issues.
- Mentor Senior Principal and Principal Engineers and promote technical excellence, transparency, and continuous learning.
- Publish design documents, architectural decision records, and best-practice guides.
- Translate customer feedback and field observations into architectural improvements and product requirements.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in network engineering, including large-scale, high-performance network architecture and operations.
- A track record of defining and delivering network architectures for telecommunications, cloud, or digital infrastructure products.
- Experience influencing technical direction across engineering, product, and operations organizations.
- Experience engaging enterprise or carrier-grade customers in a technical advisory or escalation capacity.
- Deep expertise in virtualized and cloud-native networking, including SDN/NFV, overlay networking, VXLAN, MPLS, and Segment Routing.
- Expert knowledge of VNF architecture, performance tuning, qualification, DPDK, SR-IOV, CPU pinning, and high-throughput packet processing.
- Strong command of BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, and other routing protocols in large-scale multi-tenant or carrier environments.
- Experience designing and operating interconnected multi-site or multi-region network topologies with stringent availability and latency requirements.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes networking, cloud-native CNI plugins, and service mesh concepts.
- Ability to bridge low-level protocol knowledge with software engineering, network operations, product, and platform requirements.
- Networking, computer science, or electrical engineering foundation demonstrated through professional experience, education, industry certifications such as CCIE or JNCIE, or equivalent practical expertise.
- Experience applying AI/ML tools or automated analysis to network observability, fault detection, or capacity planning is preferred.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and inclusive leadership skills.
