Responsibilities

  • Set the AI platform vision, reference architecture, roadmap, and non-functional standards across cloud, hybrid, and approved edge environments.
  • Run the platform as a product by defining service tiers and golden paths, prioritizing the roadmap, and measuring adoption and time to value.
  • Design portable model-access gateways with stable contracts, policy-aware routing, resilience, and controlled experimentation.
  • Architect elastic compute, storage, and networking foundations for AI workloads while balancing performance, regional constraints, resilience, and cost.
  • Automate production delivery for code and AI assets with progressive releases, rollback, and release evidence.
  • Define secure and understandable agent runtime patterns for tools, identities, approvals, isolation, recovery, and replay.
  • Establish service objectives, observability standards, recovery patterns, and resilience exercises.
  • Connect usage, performance, and quality signals to improve unit economics without weakening reliability or user outcomes.
  • Lead build-versus-buy and portability decisions with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Mentor platform engineers and SREs and strengthen reusable architecture and engineering practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study.
  • 9-12+ years of relevant experience designing and operating cloud, infrastructure, SRE, or platform capabilities, including production AI workloads.
  • Demonstrated experience building a shared platform adopted by multiple product teams with measurable improvements in speed, reliability, or cost.
  • Deep experience with at least one major cloud and judgment regarding hybrid or multi-cloud portability.
  • Hands-on experience with orchestration, networking, identity, infrastructure as code, delivery automation, APIs, and production observability.
  • Experience operating model-serving and AI lifecycle capabilities, including release controls, evaluation, capacity, service objectives, and incident learning.
  • Demonstrated build-versus-buy judgment and ability to explain operational, commercial, and technical consequences.
  • Experience leading complex programs, influencing senior stakeholders, and mentoring engineers.
  • Preferred experience includes high-volume or latency-sensitive inference, accelerator capacity optimization, agent runtimes, tool gateways, sandboxed execution, policy-aware multi-agent environments, FinOps, performance engineering, and industry contributions to cloud-native, observability, AI platform, interoperability, open-source, standards, or research communities.
  • Exceptional candidates from product, service design, operations, transformation, policy, domain, or entrepreneurial backgrounds are welcomed; the posting also states that no particular degree or certification is required.

Benefits

  • Base salary ranges from $144,000 to $329,100 for other U.S. office locations, $172,800 to $359,000 for specified metropolitan and regional offices, and $180,000 to $374,000 for Bay Area California offices.
  • Medical and dental coverage, pension, and 401(k) plans are offered.
  • Benefits include flexible vacation, paid holidays, winter and summer breaks, personal and family care time, and other leaves of absence.
  • The role allows work anywhere in the country but requires up to 50% travel and flexibility to work in the office in a hybrid capacity.
  • The position is ongoing and EY asks applicants to limit themselves to two applications within a six-month period.
