- Own a service or platform end to end, including stakeholder engagement, requirements, roadmap, design, implementation, sustainment, and evolution.
- Design systems for operational resilience by addressing failure modes, blast radius, observability, capacity, recovery, secure configuration, and multi-domain constraints.
- Produce safe, reusable automation and tooling that other operators and engineers will adopt.
- Diagnose complex faults across infrastructure-as-code and observability systems and improve the environment over time.
- Operate across AWS and Terraform-based cloud-native environments and Windows, Active Directory, VMware, and air-gapped classified on-premises environments.
- Lead ISM/PSPF accreditation work for the owned service, including secure baselines and multi-domain constraints.
- Partner with software, autonomy, and Maritime engineering teams and mentor others in reliability practices.
Requirements
- Around eight or more years of experience in infrastructure, reliability, platform, or DevOps roles.
- Demonstrated experience owning a service or platform through requirements, roadmap, coordination, design, implementation, and sustainment.
- Deep expertise across several infrastructure stack layers with real operational failure and trade-off experience.
- Fluent scripting and automation skills in Python, Bash, or Go.
- Strong systems-design judgment covering operability, security baselines, graceful degradation, cost, and scaling trade-offs.
- Production experience with Terraform and Kubernetes.
- Australian citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain an Australian NV2 security clearance; existing NV2 or equivalent is preferred.
- Preferred experience in Defence, critical infrastructure, or other highly regulated environments.
- Preferred hands-on experience with ISM/PSPF accreditation ownership and classified or air-gapped on-premises infrastructure.
- Preferred understanding of networking in cloud and hybrid environments.
- Experience mentoring engineers and coordinating across a service or platform is preferred.
- Production service development experience in Go, Rust, or similar is welcomed but not required.
