Responsibilities
- Collaborate with data analysts to specify and build backend features that attract new customers.
- Build backend services for mobile and web functionality such as transaction search and wire transfers.
- Create administrative tools that improve support operations, including fraud identification and account management.
- Integrate backend systems with third-party APIs for functions such as sending checks and validating SWIFT codes.
- Build and improve frontend features, pages, components, and user interfaces in TypeScript.
- Optimize frontend performance and contribute ideas alongside designers to improve the product.
- Communicate technical reasoning clearly and collaborate effectively with engineers and cross-functional partners.
Requirements
- Be enrolled in an academic program, such as an undergraduate or graduate program, during the internship.
- Demonstrate interest in continually improving engineering skills, curiosity, willingness to share perspectives, and appreciation for quality.
- Communicate well and write clear explanations of technical decisions.
- Backend and full-stack candidates should have Haskell experience or a strong desire to learn Haskell, plus some SQL familiarity.
- Frontend candidates should have TypeScript experience; React experience is a plus.
- Full-stack candidates should have Haskell experience or a strong desire to learn it, SQL familiarity, and TypeScript experience.
Benefits
- Paid, full-time remote internship lasting 12–16 weeks between January and May 2027.
- Hourly compensation is $55 for candidates based in the US and CAD 55 for candidates based in Canada.
- Interns receive mentorship from experienced engineers and can discuss available team placements during interviews.
