Responsibilities
- Analyze business and technical requirements to design scalable backend solutions and evaluate technology tradeoffs.
- Develop robust, secure, and high-performance applications and services for distributed systems.
- Design, troubleshoot, and performance-tune distributed and microservices-based applications.
- Maintain and enhance existing systems for reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with QA engineers on debugging, test planning, and issue resolution.
- Document architecture, design decisions, implementation details, and root cause analyses.
- Participate in design and code reviews, share technical expertise, and promote engineering best practices across cross-functional teams.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience developing commercial software products for Linux-based distributed systems.
- Strong proficiency in Java and the Spring ecosystem, including Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and Spring Security.
- Experience with distributed and microservices-based application design, development, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals and protocols including TCP/IP, SNMP, gRPC/gNMI, and socket programming.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, data modeling, query optimization, and data-access frameworks.
- Experience with event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka, Kafka Streams, and RabbitMQ.
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs and data serialization technologies including JSON, XML, and Avro.
- Experience with containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with Maven, Git, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, and test frameworks.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Preferred experience with telecommunications, broadband, cable, DOCSIS, fiber/PON, or network management systems.
- Preferred understanding of cloud-native architectures and familiarity with Microsoft Azure and/or AWS.
- Preferred experience with observability and monitoring technologies such as Prometheus and Grafana.
