Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end solution design for complex product, programme, cross-domain, and strategic technology initiatives.
- Translate enterprise architecture standards, principles, and roadmaps into practical designs that balance pace, cost, quality, risk, and sustainability.
- Review and challenge solution designs from Solution Architects, engineering teams, and third-party partners.
- Provide design assurance across multiple squads and programmes, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, security requirements, and technology patterns.
- Provide feasibility input, ROM estimates, dependency identification, and technical risk assessment during demand shaping and portfolio assessment.
- Serve as the senior technical voice for platform migrations, strategic vendor implementations, large-scale integrations, and complex system changes.
- Resolve delivery-level architectural trade-offs and escalate decisions with wider enterprise implications.
- Surface delivery risks, integration challenges, design constraints, and technical debt into enterprise architecture standards and roadmaps.
- Coach and guide Solution Architects and contribute reusable solution patterns, reference architectures, and design playbooks.
- Participate in architecture governance forums with solution-level assurance, recommendations, and decision support.
Requirements
- Significant experience in solution architecture leading design across complex, multi-system, and cross-domain initiatives.
- Broad technical experience across application, integration, data, cloud, security, and infrastructure architecture, with depth in one or more specialist areas.
- Ability to translate enterprise architecture direction into practical designs that delivery teams can implement.
- Experience providing design assurance and architectural governance across product, programme, and partner-led delivery.
- Credible technical authority with the ability to constructively challenge engineering teams, vendors, and third-party partners.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills for explaining architectural trade-offs to senior technical and business stakeholders.
- Experience coaching or mentoring Solution Architects or technical design leads.
- Ability to operate in a matrixed organisation and flex across high-priority demand.
- Experience in Agile, hybrid, or squad-based delivery models is preferred.
- Experience with enterprise platforms such as SAP, Salesforce, Databricks, integration middleware, or cloud platforms is preferred.
