Responsibilities
- Own the technical architecture for deploying computer-vision prototypes to aircraft, including embedded or edge inference, latency and power budgets, and an updatable runtime.
- Integrate cameras and onboard compute platforms and define interfaces with other aircraft systems across ground, air, and road benches.
- Build validation processes using reference datasets, metrics, calibration, regression tests, and reproducible evaluation methods.
- Lead the introduction of new algorithms and sensors, including multi-sensor fusion and non-RGB sensing.
- Set engineering standards for testing, reproducibility, model versioning, continuous integration, documentation, and code quality.
- Guide and review the work of a junior computer-vision engineer.
- Build and maintain annotated datasets, including frame extraction, labeling, quality checks, and training/validation splits.
- Train, fine-tune, evaluate, and benchmark models and report results using clear metrics.
- Implement and test algorithms from research literature in the existing Python codebase.
- Integrate and diagnose video pipelines and models on target hardware and evaluate new sensors through data recording and integration prototypes.
- Collaborate with certification, safety, privacy, and international engineering stakeholders to support aviation and GDPR reviews.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience shipping machine-learning or computer-vision systems to production, including at least one deployment on edge or embedded hardware.
- Strong Python skills and solid experience with PyTorch, ONNX, and TensorRT or an equivalent inference-optimization stack.
- Practical experience with detection, tracking, and multi-camera geometry.
- Experience building evaluation pipelines involving datasets, labeling, metrics, and regression tests.
- Comfort working with Linux and Docker and writing clean, tested, maintainable code.
- Experience with NVIDIA Jetson or similar edge platforms, GStreamer, or RTSP video pipelines.
- Familiarity with 3D reconstruction or synthetic data for testing and validation.
- Background in a regulated or safety-critical domain such as aerospace, rail, automotive, or medical, with DO-178C, DO-254, or similar processes.
- Experience with privacy-preserving video analytics, sensor fusion, or non-RGB sensors.
- Negotiation-level English is mandatory, along with clear technical communication, documentation, autonomy, adaptability, and accountability.
