Base Salary
$600k - $1066k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the developer experience for AIMS ML practitioners, including local and remote development environments, build and test infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and research-to-production tooling.
- Design, build, and operate large-scale build and CI/CD systems that maintain fast build, test, and iteration times as the organization grows.
- Build and maintain internal developer platforms and self-service tooling that reduce infrastructure operations for individual teams.
- Observe engineering and research workflows, identify root causes of friction, and ship tooling and abstractions that measurably improve productivity.
- Partner with ML researchers and engineers to prioritize productivity investments and drive adoption through documentation, migration support, and hands-on collaboration.
- Instrument developer workflows and use metrics such as build time, iteration speed, and time-to-first-experiment to guide investment decisions.
- Set technical standards for developer tooling and provide architectural guidance through design reviews.
- Evaluate, integrate, and productionize GenAI-powered developer tools such as intelligent build/test selection, automated code review, and triage automation, with appropriate safeguards.
Requirements
- Significant experience building and operating developer productivity infrastructure, build systems, CI/CD, development environments, or internal platforms at scale.
- Deep proficiency in Python and working proficiency in at least one JVM language such as Scala or Java.
- Hands-on experience with distributed build systems such as Bazel, Buck, or Pants.
- Experience with large-scale distributed data or compute frameworks such as Spark or Beam.
- Understanding and practical use of GenAI-powered developer tooling, including coding assistants, automated code review, or agentic coding workflows.
- Experience with parallel and distributed computing and operating systems at scale.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose developer friction through direct observation and ship tooling that produces measurable improvements.
- Ability to lead cross-team technical programs and earn adoption without formal authority.
- Comfort working across low-level systems such as build graphs, compilers, and runtime performance and higher-level platform and API design.
- Preferred experience with ML developer tooling such as experiment tracking, training pipeline orchestration, feature stores, or notebook-to-production workflows.
- Preferred experience building GenAI developer tooling for other engineers, contributing to open-source developer or distributed-processing tools, or working with compiler, language, static-analysis, or build-optimization tooling.
- Preferred experience operating high-performance computing environments or large-scale batch-processing systems.
