Responsibilities
- Own features and services end to end, including building, testing, releasing, monitoring, and fixing them.
- Break down increasingly ambiguous problems and write design notes for review.
- Write tests, add observability, and participate in on-call to identify issues before customers are affected.
- Understand customer needs and use support issues to guide improvements.
- Give and receive code reviews and help onboard new engineers.
- Build and debug production services on AWS using modern languages and service frameworks.
- Design schemas, use indexes effectively, investigate slow queries, and apply software fundamentals involving data structures, API design, caching, and concurrency.
Requirements
- 1–4 years of experience building production software.
- Experience shipping, releasing, and supporting production code rather than only coursework or prototypes.
- Strong problem-solving ability and the ability to work independently toward clear goals.
- Hands-on AWS experience deploying and debugging services.
- Strong experience in at least one modern language such as Python, Java, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Experience with modern service frameworks such as FastAPI or Node.js, or equivalent technologies.
- Solid data modeling and query fundamentals, including schema design, indexing, and query performance analysis.
- Demonstrated impact, ownership beyond assigned tickets, depth in debugging or design trade-offs, learning speed, and curiosity about users.
