Base Salary
$215k - $266k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of backend services and customer-facing APIs for the RTK Corrections Network.
- Build and evolve clear, documented, reliable API-first services for internal and external developers.
- Own ingestion, processing, and distribution of GNSS correction data from reference stations to field devices.
- Design low-latency streaming and connectivity paths, including NTRIP and similar protocols.
- Scale network capacity and coverage as regions, stations, and customers expand.
- Design distributed systems for high availability, graceful degradation, and recovery under partial failure.
- Own metrics, logging, tracing, alerting, testing, and verification across backend services and the correction pipeline.
- Identify performance bottlenecks, reliability risks, and test-coverage gaps before they affect customers.
- Engage with customers and cross-functional embedded, firmware, infrastructure, and customer-facing teams to deliver durable technical solutions.
- Surface technical risks and tradeoffs and manage delivery against concrete tasks, schedules, and milestones.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional software development experience with significant backend or distributed-systems depth.
- Proven ability to design, build, deploy, and operate production backend services and APIs at scale, including on-call ownership.
- Ability to decompose high-level goals into actionable tasks, realistic schedules, and milestones while delivering on commitments.
- Strong proficiency in a backend language such as Go, Java, or Python.
- Deep understanding of TCP/IP, TLS, and HTTP, with experience building low-latency, high-throughput services.
- Experience designing and operating distributed systems for availability, scaling, and observability.
- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure such as AWS or GCP, containers, and CI/CD.
- Experience designing and owning testing and verification strategies for complex systems.
- BS/MS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with real-time data streaming or low-latency messaging such as gRPC or Kafka is preferred.
- Experience with Flink, Spark, or Hadoop is preferred.
- Working knowledge of GNSS, RTK corrections, or positioning technologies is preferred.
- Background in highly available or mission-critical systems is preferred.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code and large-scale observability tooling is preferred.
