Responsibilities
- Analyze system and software requirements and implement embedded real-time software for braking and other transportation products.
- Design, code, configure, debug, and verify software using C and related embedded development practices.
- Develop monitoring programs and PC tools, support design verification and validation, and perform software and system tests.
- Coordinate software activities, track development status, identify delays, verify contractor documentation, and apply platform coding guidelines.
- Collaborate with developers, project managers, system integrators, test engineers, quality laboratories, contractors, and customers.
- Create technical documentation, UML models, requirements and design artifacts, code documentation, test specifications, and review materials.
- Support embedded Linux integration, device drivers, BSPs, board bring-up, cybersecurity features, and low-level hardware debugging when required.
- Travel locally and internationally and participate in static and dynamic brake testing and customer-site commissioning.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Embedded Systems, Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 2–8 years of hands-on experience in embedded real-time software design and development.
- Strong hands-on C experience, embedded application development, bare-metal programming, IDE usage, and Git.
- Experience or familiarity with C++, UML, PlantUML, Enterprise Architect, StarUML, Markdown, Doxygen, build pipelines, code reviews, and merge requests.
- Familiarity with Embedded Linux, kernel and bootloader concepts, file systems, device drivers, Yocto integration, BSPs, board bring-up, and SoM/SoC modules is desirable.
- Knowledge of Secure Boot, secure firmware updates, cryptography, certificate-based authentication, IEC 62443, and embedded cybersecurity practices is desirable.
- Experience with JTAG, USB analyzers, compilers, linkers, debuggers, TI AM64xx CPUs, and scripting languages such as Rust, Python, Shell, Bash, or Perl is desirable.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, technical leadership, and cross-discipline collaboration skills, with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to travel and participate in vehicle-based brake testing; Italian, French, or German language skills are beneficial.
