Base Salary
$120k - $261k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead reliability and availability improvements across multiple Substrate services in highly regulated environments.
- Serve as a senior on-call engineer and lead response to complex or high-severity incidents.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership and coordinate incident response across teams.
- Lead post-incident reviews that identify systemic issues and produce durable engineering improvements.
- Drive automation, monitoring, and observability strategies to reduce incidents and mean time to recovery.
- Design and implement reliability-focused software components, frameworks, or platforms used across multiple services.
- Influence service architecture and operational readiness with engineering teams.
- Mentor junior SREs and establish reliability engineering best practices.
- Represent SRE perspectives in design reviews, planning forums, and cross-team initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field plus 4+ years of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration; alternatively, a master’s degree plus 2+ years or equivalent experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a favorably adjudicated Tier 3 background investigation for GCCH and DoD environments.
- Ability to meet Criminal Justice Information Services eligibility requirements for GCCM environments.
- Ability to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Preferred: doctorate plus 3+ years, master’s plus 6+ years, or bachelor’s plus 8+ years of relevant technical experience, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred: 3+ years of experience working with large-scale cloud or distributed systems.
Benefits
- The typical U.S. base pay range is USD $119,800–$234,700 per year, with a separate San Francisco Bay Area and New York City range.
- Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
- The position is open for at least 5 days, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis until filled.
- Candidates may begin work while required background investigations are in progress, but failure to obtain or maintain required clearances may result in employment action.
