Responsibilities
- Improve the scalability, stability, accuracy, speed, and efficiency of the existing Android application.
- Design, develop, test, and deploy libraries, frameworks, and complete systems for core infrastructure.
- Investigate and resolve ANRs and memory leaks in a complex multithreaded environment using Kotlin Coroutines and RxJava.
- Maintain and optimize a multi-module Gradle architecture containing specialized VoIP, EKG, Core, and UI libraries.
- Implement and debug low-level interactions between Android software and specialized device hardware, including reboot handling and hardware listeners.
- Collaborate with a Scrum team throughout software design, development, testing, estimation, delivery, and retrospectives.
- Support teammates and shared processes while contributing to production issue debugging and resolution.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- At least eight years of professional Android software development experience is required.
- Extensive experience with Kotlin, Java, Android frameworks, XML layouts, Activities, Fragments, Material Design, ConstraintLayout, ViewModel, LiveData, and Flow.
- Advanced experience with Kotlin Coroutines and RxJava 2, including complex state transitions and thread synchronization.
- Extensive experience with VoIP/SIP protocols, Linphone or similar libraries, Android telephony APIs, and real-time audio pipelines.
- Strong understanding of Clean Architecture and MVVM, with familiarity with MVP, multi-module projects, Gradle, and Dagger 2.
- Experience with Retrofit, OkHttp, RESTful APIs, Room Database, SQLite, JSON, XML, JUnit, Espresso, and Mockito.
- Experience with Android Studio, Git, GitHub Actions, Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Analytics, source control, CI/CD, and application monitoring.
- Experience with production debugging, open-source technologies, and collaboration-based technical guidance.
- Strong communication, presentation, problem-solving, organizational, time-management, discretion, and confidentiality skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and virtual communication tools such as Microsoft Teams and Slack.
- Preferred experience includes Jetpack Compose, Board Support Package development, Android Open Source Project development, AI-assisted tools such as Claude or Codex, Test-Driven Development, and Apple iOS.
