Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Node.js and TypeScript backend services for account creation, identity verification, agreement handling, and funding hand-off.
- Build event-driven and asynchronous processing using message queues, pub/sub, and streaming pipelines.
- Implement idempotency, retries, resumability, deduplication, reconciliation, and correctness for long-running multi-step workflows.
- Design background task runners and job orchestration for downstream account creation and decisioning.
- Build operational tooling for inspecting in-flight state, targeted replay, and safe requeue of stalled applications.
- Define service-level expectations and implement monitoring and alerting for provider failures and applicant drop-off.
- Design and implement scalable, resilient service architecture using Google Cloud Platform and Kubernetes.
- Extend onboarding for new markets, brands, and account types through configurable jurisdiction-specific behavior.
- Coordinate technical direction with adjacent squads and coach Sr. Software Engineer I-level engineers through design reviews and pairing.
- Own workstreams through design, implementation, testing, deployment, on-call operation, and iteration.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software development experience building and operating backend services in production.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Deep Node.js and TypeScript expertise, including asynchronous patterns, concurrency, and backpressure.
- Production experience with event-driven architecture, delivery guarantees, and poison-message handling using queues, pub/sub, or streaming platforms such as Kafka or Google Cloud Pub/Sub.
- Experience building idempotent and resumable workflows that remain correct under retries, partial failure, and out-of-order delivery.
- Strong SQL and schema-design skills plus hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and a major cloud platform.
- Demonstrated use of AI coding agents such as Codex, Cursor, and Claude Code, with the ability to review and validate assisted code.
- Excellent communication and end-to-end ownership.
- Preferred experience with identity verification, KYC/AML, fraud or risk decisioning, fintech, trading, brokerage, regulated financial services, third-party provider integrations, workflow or saga orchestration frameworks, and feature-flagging platforms such as Statsig.
- Passion for futures, derivatives, and trading technologies is preferred.

- Salary range of $140,000.00–$190,000.00 USD plus an annual target bonus of 12%.
