Responsibilities
- Build production AI systems from prototype through deployment and monitoring while owning committed milestones and delivery dates.
- Translate business workflow problems into shippable AI tools with stakeholders across Engineering, Operations, HR, Finance, and Commercial.
- Develop evaluation harnesses, prompts, retrieval logic, and integration code for reliable LLM-powered features.
- Establish reusable patterns for prompt and model governance, evaluation, data access, and deployment in partnership with IT.
- Evaluate external platforms and implementation partners, manage them against scope and schedule, and integrate their deliverables.
- Contribute to the AI technical roadmap and determine what to build internally, purchase, or discontinue.
- Support technical scoping of new use cases and assess when out-of-the-box tools are sufficient versus when custom development is justified.
- Track developments in AI tooling and incorporate relevant improvements into the company’s technology stack.
Requirements
- CS or a related technical background with hands-on production experience building AI/ML systems; internships, research, or full-time work count.
- Demonstrated ability to ship and maintain real-world projects from idea through a running system, beyond prototypes or notebooks.
- Solid software engineering fundamentals, including version control, testing, code review, and deployment practices.
- Working knowledge of LLM APIs, retrieval-augmented generation, evaluation, agent frameworks, and vector stores.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for regular interaction with nontechnical stakeholders.
- Ability to scope realistically, commit to milestones, anticipate risks, and raise delivery concerns early.
- Ability to collaborate with IT, business teams, and external vendors in a multistakeholder environment.
- Ability to evaluate changing AI technologies and adapt the company’s tooling thoughtfully.
- Willingness to work at least three days per week in the Houston office and operate effectively in ambiguity.
- Preferred experience with Anthropic API, Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, or equivalent hosted LLM platforms.
- Preferred experience with Claude Code, MCP server development, agentic coding tools, agent orchestration frameworks, or multi-agent systems.
- Preferred familiarity with Entra ID, Graph API, and Microsoft 365 integrations for enterprise AI deployments.
- Preferred exposure to data-sensitive and operationally constrained environments such as OT, healthcare, finance, or regulated industries.
- Preferred background in energy, utilities, or other operationally complex sectors.
