Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and implementation of C#/.NET back-end services supporting order execution, market data, analytics, and risk workflows.
- Own REST, gRPC, and real-time streaming API contracts, including versioning, deprecation, backward compatibility, documentation, and client SDKs.
- Build and scale low-latency market-data distribution, order and execution event streams, and other high-throughput messaging systems.
- Define microservice boundaries, inter-service communication standards, service topology, and event-driven architecture.
- Implement authentication, authorization, secure communications, API gateways, and streaming protocols.
- Drive observability, capacity planning, profiling, load testing, availability, and production troubleshooting across service, data, and network layers.
- Establish automated unit, integration, contract, load, soak, and latency testing and integrate tests into CI/CD release gates.
- Partner with front-end, WPF desktop, and client-integration teams and support customers with integration and requirements analysis.
- Mentor engineers, help onboard associates, provide cross-team architectural leadership, and participate in interviews and assessments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related STEM field.
- 10+ years of hands-on professional back-end and distributed-systems development experience.
- Expert-level C#/.NET and ASP.NET Core experience, including asynchronous programming, concurrency, threading, memory, and garbage-collection-aware performance optimization.
- Demonstrated ownership of a platform-level or externally consumed API, including design, versioning, documentation, and consumer support.
- Experience building low-latency, high-volume, highly available distributed systems and microservices.
- Strong object-oriented programming, design-pattern, data-structure, algorithm, and concurrency fundamentals.
- Experience with RESTful APIs, gRPC, WebSockets, streaming communication, MessagePack, Protobuf, Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Redis.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with Postgres, SQL Server, MySQL, Entity Framework, schema design, indexing, query tuning, and zero-downtime migrations.
- Experience with OpenAPI/Swagger, Protobuf IDL, API gateways, networking, TCP/IP, TLS, HTTP/2, load balancing, and long-lived streaming connections.
- Experience designing unit, integration, contract, load, soak, and latency testing and embedding automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Expertise implementing authentication and authorization with OpenID Connect and OAuth 2.0, along with secure API practices and vulnerability remediation.
- Experience mentoring engineers, providing technical leadership, and working with customers on support and requirements analysis.
- Preferred experience includes financial-industry systems, trading and order-routing workflows, FIX, OEMS or venue integrations, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, SLOs, error budgets, Docker, Kubernetes, Azure, AWS, GCP, GraphQL, WPF, PowerShell, Git, Jenkins, Jira, Confluence, JetBrains Suite, and Wireshark.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum, DevOps practices, Windows, Linux, and AI coding assistants such as Claude.
