Base Salary
$218k - $257k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define and own the technical strategy for test infrastructure across Coinbase engineering.
- Build and operate test execution orchestration, smart test selection, parallel sharding, flaky-test detection and suppression, and test result storage and analysis services.
- Reduce the time between code creation and test results while improving the speed of engineering feedback.
- Improve test-signal trustworthiness by reducing flakiness and preventing unnecessary reruns.
- Own systems end to end, including SLOs, observability, on-call operations, and correctness.
- Partner with engineering teams to identify and resolve test-infrastructure bottlenecks.
- Mentor engineers, establish scalable technical standards, and shape the organization’s approach to test infrastructure.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience building and operating production software.
- Strong fundamentals in distributed systems and proficiency in a primary language such as Go or a similar language.
- Demonstrated ability to define and deliver technical strategy for foundational systems.
- Deep hands-on experience with test infrastructure, including test execution at scale, flaky-test detection, test selection, sharding, or test result analysis.
- Strong operational instincts with attention to reliability, security, and observability.
- Experience driving complex, cross-team technical projects to completion without direct authority over involved teams.
- Customer-focused approach to improving systems for internal engineering users.
- Ability to responsibly use generative AI tools and copilots, including LibreChat, Gemini, or Glean, with human-in-the-loop practices.
- Familiarity with test selection algorithms and coverage-versus-speed tradeoffs is preferred.
- Experience with Kubernetes, AWS, GitHub Actions, Terraform, and containers such as Docker/OCI is preferred.
- Experience with observability and performance tooling such as Datadog is preferred.
- Experience in regulated or security-sensitive environments and curiosity about crypto/web3 are additional advantages.
