$218k - $239k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own engineering quality through design reviews, code reviews, test strategy, and production-readiness practices.
- Design and build composable, resilient, frontend-leaning full-stack systems that can evolve with product requirements.
- Collaborate with product, design, and engineering partners to clarify tradeoffs and deliver reliable solutions.
- Improve architectural, operational, performance, maintainability, and code-quality standards.
- Apply functional programming principles and immutability to simplify systems and reduce side effects.
- Use AI assistants and agents for prototyping, scaffolding, refactoring, and exploration, then rigorously validate the results.
- Build and maintain unit, integration/contract, component/UI, and end-to-end automated test coverage.
- Provide technical leadership through mentorship, delegation, high-quality code reviews, and technical direction.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience building production web applications and 2+ years of experience as a Principal Engineer.
- Expert-level TypeScript proficiency and strong experience with React, server-side rendered Next.js or a similar technology, and component-driven development such as Reshaped UI.
- Deep understanding of orchestrating and composing calls across multiple services.
- Ability to explain complex technical tradeoffs and translate product vision into technical direction.
- Experience developing simple, reusable, changeable systems, including refactoring, platforming, or scalable-pattern work.
- Preference for functional programming and deep understanding of immutability.
- Advanced knowledge of the testing pyramid and automated testing for rapid iterative development.
- Proven technical leadership through mentorship, delegation, and high-quality code reviews.
- Hands-on experience with Cursor or equivalent AI-augmented IDEs and modern coding models.
- Ability to assess AI strengths and limitations, compare implementation approaches, and prevent low-quality AI-generated code from reaching production.
