Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and delivery of cloud-scale backend services for OCI’s WAF, API Security, and application protection capabilities.
- Design policy management, rule evaluation, threat detection, bot mitigation, traffic inspection, and security analytics platforms.
- Build highly available distributed systems that process large volumes of HTTP/HTTPS traffic with low latency.
- Drive technical strategy in partnership with security, product, edge infrastructure, and platform teams.
- Establish operational excellence through SLOs/SLAs, incident response, runbooks, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
- Lead CI/CD, testing, deployment automation, Infrastructure-as-Code, and developer productivity initiatives.
- Establish observability through metrics, logging, tracing, dashboards, alerting, and performance monitoring.
- Mentor engineers and provide architectural leadership through design reviews and technical strategy.
Requirements
- 7–10+ years of experience building production software systems, including large-scale distributed services in cloud or SaaS environments.
- Strong proficiency in one or more of Java, Go, Python, C++, or Rust.
- Deep expertise in distributed-systems design, scalability, resiliency, concurrency, fault tolerance, service communication, and API design.
- Strong understanding of HTTP/HTTPS, REST APIs, TLS, reverse proxies, caching, load balancing, and web application architectures.
- Experience building customer-facing platform services with demanding availability, performance, and operational requirements.
- Experience with containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code, and automated testing frameworks.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, including design patterns, performance optimization, code quality, and secure software development.
- Experience building observability solutions with metrics, distributed tracing, centralized logging, dashboards, and alerting.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives and influence architecture across multiple engineering teams.
- Preferred experience with WAF, API Security, Bot Management, CDN, Edge Computing, rule engines, threat detection, traffic inspection, analytics pipelines, globally distributed services, Zero Trust, identity and access management, compliance, or security tooling.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across engineering, security, product, and operations organizations.
